Our Curriculum

One, two, three, and four-year-old children participate in a sequential curriculum that helps to develop the whole child. Attention is given to physical, emotional, spiritual, educational and social growth. We provide the social setting to promote healthy self-esteem, a sense of responsibility to the group, sensitivity to the needs of others, and continued growth in social skill development. Exploration is encouraged and a sense of wonder is cultivated.

Skidaway Island Preschool has adopted the Pinnacle curriculum in each of our classrooms. This faith-based curriculum is based on the research of Piaget, Garner, and Erickson. It provides a theme-based framework for learning and covers all of the developmental domains (physical, social/emotional, language, cognitive, and moral). Monthly and weekly themes capture students’ interest and engage them as learners. Each day, your children will participate in both self-initiated and teacher-directed enrichment activities, ensuring concept absorption while accommodating children’s varied learning styles. Daily theme-related activities include art/music, reading, physical fitness, science/sensory exploration and character education. The Pinnacle Curriculum incorporates the development of fundamental skills including math and literacy readiness, following directions, visual memory, dramatic play, problem solving and self-help skills.

Our Pre-K program is enhanced with the use of Handwriting Without Tears materials for fine motor and literacy development. Skidaway Island Preschool is proud to employ a strong academic curriculum that fosters a life-long love of learning and ensures students are well prepared for elementary school.
