The Christian Education Committee’s mission is to plan activities, to enhance outreach programs and to create, review, and acquire materials that will form the basis for SIPC’s congregants, including children and adults, to become closer to Jesus and His teachings.

Children’s Church – Following the children’s message at the 10:00 a.m. worship service, children ages 3-2nd grade are dismissed to the CE building where they learn about worship through stories and activities. 3rd grade through 8th grade are dismissed also to attend Children’s Church in the upstairs CE classrooms. A Bible study encompasses *Study *Action and *Activity.

Sunday School – Sunday school classes are held at 9:00 a.m. Adults are invited to attend one of several adult class offerings that change seasonally. Classes have been organized around various books of the Bible and seasonal studies.

Mid-Week Ministry – The First Wednesday suppers are focused on MISSION and EDUCATION and FELLOWSHIP. The programs are provided for the whole family with meals and fellowship. The speaker series has provided insight and inspiration for the church family with proceeds from the evening benefitting the mission program of emphasis. Programs have been provided by Safe Shelter, Living Vine, Thornwell Home, Prison Ministries, Emmaus House and many others.

Men’s Bible Study – The men meet Saturday mornings at 8:00 a.m., for discussion and study of Scripture.

Small Group Studies – Small group learning and support opportunities arise throughout the year at SIPC. Currently there is a Beth Moore Bible study from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. each Wednesday in the library.

Youth Fellowship – Throughout the year our mid-high (grades 6,7,8) and senior high (grades 9-12) attend various planned events such as concerts, field trips, movies, pizza parties, pool parties, Christian studies, and various mission and fund-raising activities. These activities may be solely with SIPC youth or with youth from other island churches.

Preschool – During the school year, our building is filled with exuberant young children who attend the Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church Preschool. Fully staffed with a Director and qualified teachers, we offer classes for Toddlers, 2, 3, and 4 year olds from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. An extended day program occurs on Tuesday-Thursday from 12-2 p.m. Our preschool prepares children for Kindergarten with a Christian- based educational curriculum and provides Chapel time, field trips, and many other enrichment activities.

Vacation Bible School – The CE committee is currently exploring alternative learning opportunities for the youth at SIPC.

Nursery – We staff a secure child-care facility for our babies and toddlers during Sunday Worship and Sunday School times and at other special events as needed. On Sundays a Bible story and craft are provided for our “Wee Christians”.

QUESTIONS? – If you have further questions about our Christian Education program, please call the church at 598-0151.
